PETAH TIKVA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 5, 2002-- Inovia Telecoms, an ECI Telecom company (NASDAQ: ECIL - news), announced today that its Video over DSL solution has been successfully tested with over 10 customers in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
Leading operators chose Inovia to pioneer their Video over DSL trials to connect hundreds of subscribers to 'triple play' (data, video and voice) services. The field trials took place over the past half year and demonstrated Inovia's innovative Video over DSL capabilities with its Hi-FOCuS(TM) xDSL solution.
Inovia's Hi-FOCuS(TM) facilitated a variety of video services such as broadcast TV, Video on Demand, high speed Internet and more over both ADSL and VDSL from the same platform and without any restrictions. When using VDSL, multiple video streams were sent to each subscriber, thus enabling them to connect to multiple TV sets over a DSL line. During the trials, Inovia's Hi-FOCuS demonstrated its multi-level multicasting capabilities, believed to be unique in the industry, maximizing the utilization of bandwidth in the access network.
Inovia's partnerships with leading vendors in middleware, set-top boxes, encoders and other building blocks required in video service deployment, provided carriers with a complete end to end solution.
A leader in Video over DSL technology, Inovia's Hi-FOCuS provides everything needed for deploying video services over copper. Featuring advanced multi level, multicast capabilities, Hi-FOCuS fully exploits the operators' broadband network to deliver such services as broadcast TV, Video on Demand, Interactive TV, and more. This enables operators to maximize their competitive position and better compete with CATV solutions.
Inovia's Hi-FOCuS supports a variety of network interfaces supporting hundreds of simultaneous video channels that together with the platform's advanced architecture, enables true dense and competitive solutions.
For the delivery of video services, the Hi-FOCuS product family provides a range of extremely compact Remote Access Multiplexers (RAMs) for the deployment of outside plant xDSL and especially VDSL. Some of the trials included installation in street cabinets as well as in building basements. These installations demonstrate Inovia's advanced subtending and aggregation capabilities within the Hi-FOCuS solution.
Inovia has also established a key position within the leading standardization bodies and is helping to shape the standards required for Video over DSL services. One such leading body is the FS-VDSL Forum which held several video over DSL trials to demonstrate an end to end solution, in which Inovia participated. More details on this demonstration can be found in the announcement issued by the FS-VDSL committee on February 25, 2002.
``Being a pure Access Gateway company, we are committed to constant innovation'', says Pinny Chaviv, President and CEO of Inovia Telecoms. ``We are proud to be a leader in the Video over DSL revolution and to provide our customers with a competitive advantage in this field.''
Inovia is currently demonstrating multiple TV streams over a single VDSL line at the China Broadband Access International Summit, Beijing.
At CeBIT, 2002, at the ECI Telecom Booth, (Booth 027, Hall D15), Inovia will highlight its Video over DSL building blocks.
