Kap, Re: <I actually didn't like his excessive Hammer stomping, while glossing over more immediate bulk 130nm T-bred details.>
I've got to agree with you for an instant. It would have been nice to hear about the production stuff AMD started down the line in 4Q'01 and so far this Q.
BUT -- This is nearly Jerry's swan song. He's a MP kind of guy, and AMD's MPs are going to be 100% Hammer(SOI) by this time next year unless things go very wrong.
So I can kind of live with his parting comment -- "We've got the most powerful processor for Microsoft windows applications across the board. from the server down to the mobile. And just to remind you, 9 layers of metal, Silicon on insulator,130 NanoMeters, Copper, and of course, SOI.
Incidentaly, we have, at present time, as I said, the Holy Grail has been obtained. We have the Hammer. It's a top to bottom architecture. It's a device of 100M transistors. 100M transistors,Silicon on insulator,Copper interconnect, 130NM feature sizes, and we've got working silicon, we're running them in platforms at Redmond as we speak. Hammer is real, and so is AMD."
