Re: Remember when the expectation was that the corner computer shop would disappear? It seemed like obvious common sense: how could a neighborhood shop that bought in one's and ten's and used domestic labor for assembly and test compete with Dell or Compaq that bought in quantities in the millions and assembles and tested with pennies per hour labor?
The answer is that Dell, Compaq, and HP aren't offering buyers what they want - such as medium to high end AMD systems -
Are you really a lawyer, like one of your posts claimed? Is this the quality of well-researched garbage you submit to the court for its consideration? To be charitable, I will assume that such stuff results from your need to throw sh!t at Intel at all costs. Otherwise, I would have to assume that you are just plain stupid, which is a harsh judgment to make on a fellow lawyer.
There are lots of reasons to buy from a "corner shop." These include establishment of a personal relationship with an actual human being, much quicker service (almost always the same day) on or off site, being able to pick up the phone and talk to someone without phone menus and long holds, etc.
For almost 15 years I have been dealing exclusively with just such a shop. Since my retirement in 1998, my former partner has continued to deal with the same shop, both for home and office needs. In 1999, the shop moved into new digs which tripled their floor and lab space. You see, Dan, their business had grown so much that they needed a lot more space. They seem to be doing a very good job giving the public what it wants. Oh, I almost forgot, Dan. Computer Resources is and always has been a 100% Intel shop. Won't touch AMD and says it never will. They don't look like they are afraid of going out of business. If you want to check, they are at 514 S. Tejon, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. phone is 719-471-9066. Ask for the owner, (so help me God) Rich Guy. I am sure he would be glad to talk to you.
