Hi Doug,

I think you have some very sensible views about the abdication of responsibility on the part of parents for educating their kids. In Japan and South Korea, mothers spend many hours per week working with their kids on advanced math homework. It's just part of the culture. Here, Mom is off the hook, and so is the kid. Except in the exceptional cases, where being a bimbo or brain-free jock isn't the path the parents are putting the kids on.
