Hi Marie, We all must keep our eyes and ears open for the sake of these kids! As one of those kids, I agree wholeheartedly. I can tell you that "Pediatrics" is a highly-respected journal with very strict research criteria and 1994 is not terribly old. I too would like to see newer data, but would be extremely surprised if homosexuality was linked with pedophilia in the priesthood any higher than it is in the general population, where study after study has shown that 1. most pedophiles are heterosexual males preying on girls 2. homosexual men have a lower incidence of pedophilia than heterosexual males I think as time passes, we may find that many of the allegations made against priests are by female victims as well and the crime of pedophilia is equally damaging whether or not it's homosexual or heterosexual. Victims live with the results of a too-early, inappropriate, and often violent introduction to adult sexual behavior for the rest of their lives. It is a tragedy of proportions that most people have trouble understanding. I'm signing off, see you all on Sunday.
