The 1.3 GHz Duron, with 64K L2 has 25.2M transistors. This is the Morgan version (i.e., has Palomino enhancements). 1.3GHz AMD Duron? Processor Frequently Asked Questions at amd.com The Athlon Palomino, with 256K L2 has 37.5M transistors. See architectural features: amd.com 12.3M transistors/192K -> 32.8M transistors for 512K or 65.6M transistors for 1M of L2. This is about 8 transistors per bit, which is about right since there is probably ECC included. So I think it is safe to say that Clawhammer will have a 1M L2. That leaves room for a much larger core+L1, going from about 20M transistors to 34.4M transistors. Possible the L1 is also enlarged? Petz
