re: Nokia 8390 v. T68 at AWS

As far as I am concerned, with both phones retailing at $199, the T68 blows the doors off the 8390.

T68 is color display, Bluetooth, and tri-mode. Reviews on the T58 UI have been good if not excellent.

Carriers offering next-generation wireless services have begun expanding handset choices as more advanced mobile phones become available. Today, AT&T Wireless begins offering the Nokia 8390 as well as the Sony Ericsson T68 for customers signing up for its next-gen services.

Besides GSM/GPRS capability for high-speed data transmission, the Nokia 8390 includes voice dialing, phone book, calendar, stopwatch and support for e-mail, text and photo messaging. The 2.9-ounce phone provides up to 4 hours of talk time and 16 days of standby time. Nokia's 8390 will retail for $199.99. Sony Ericsson's T68 is the first GPRS handset in the United States to feature a color screen and Bluetooth capabilities. The tri-mode phone also will retail for $199.99.

AT&T Wireless also begins offering GPRS customers new voice plans to choose from in buckets of 60, 500 and 900 minutes ranging from $19.99 per month to $59.99 per month. Long distance and roaming fees as well as wireless data are not included in the plans, according to AT&T Wireless. <<
