FYI, the 6 layers does not include the couple of layers of transistor (polysilicon, P and N diffusion) you counted. The mainstream processor have Poly, P and N-diffusions and layer 1 through 6.

With regard to Jerry mentioning 9 layers, he probably counted either Poly or diffusion (or both) as routing layer.
