OK, I'll start. I think the merger is a bad idea. I think the resulting conglomerate will be too big and too slow. Plus the resulting layoffs is bound to be a major drag on productivity for both companies in the next few years.

Tenchusatsu, tech has a bad track record when it comes to mergers but it doesn't have to be that way. I think why the track record has been bad is partly due to the fact that tech mgmt tends to be less seasoned when it comes to the intricacies of putting together a good merger plus combining technologies from two different companies can be tricky.

However, going back to your comments, I would expect the layoffs to enhance productivity, not hurt it. Why do you say that?
