Thanks Harvey,

Looks like a real product, I had an email on it a few days ago but didn't follow up. This christmas will probably have a slew of such devices hyped like crazy, it will take quite a while for a clear choice to emerge. When one does start posting decent numbers, with good manufacturing capabilites I may get on board.

I still believe the NC for business users is DOA, since you need a monitor for work (not a TV) add in a keyboard, mouse and floppy and you can just get a lowend 486DX100 for a $1000.

As for the home user, if these NC/WebTV manufacturers increase the font size to make it more readable on a standard TV it may actually sell quite well. There are so many people not using computers (at home) and they will probably never buy one just for WebSurfing and email. The NC is a great idea and a relatively inexpensive choice for the vast majority of folks out there. My own mother has a Wintel box (turnkey) with an Airline reservation system and ISDN for the past 6 years at home. Yet she just can't figure out Windows and Email. A TV she understands and is comfortable with, her VCR has the Plus programming feature and now she knows how to record her favorite shows. I believe it also (the VCR) sets it own clock from a signal off the cable so it doesn't flash 12:00 all the time, like it used to. She and good 50% of Americans could get on the Web via an NC and it's a box, plug it in and go, simple enough.
