| Not entirely, but you are not completely off base. Most whites vote Republican(55-60%), but many vote Democrat(40- 45%), and most minorities vote Democrat, but many vote Republican. Among Asians, I believe about 2/5ths vote Republican. Among Hispanics, perhaps a third, although it varies somewhat. Still, it is true that without the black vote, Democrats are unlikely to win in a presidential election. If Republicans can make substantial in- roads in the black vote, say, bringing it down to Hispanic levels, it will be extremely difficult for Democrats to win the White House in the foreseeable future. |
