I've no idea re the maintenance update Ian. I know that Dell pre-loads the OS and everything else onto the machine before they ship it, so presumably they are using the most up-to-date versions. I did automatically update XP a few days ago (this is apparently an XP feature?) but I didn't pay attention to what came in the download. I really haven't tried systematically to learn the ins and outs of XP, just jumped into it and got up and running reasonably painlessly. Eventually I'll have to take the tour/tutorial and figure out what I'm supposed to be doing! FWIW, my trading software performs flawlessly on the new system. It used to max-out the resources on the old computer, and move very slowly at times. If you are using an old Pentium, you'll be amazed at the difference.
