Let me see

a $500 million contract to expand and upgrade Cingular Wireless networks. Under the deal, signed in November 2001, Nortel will provide GRM/GPRS upgrades to Cingular territories in the Carolinas, Georgia and Puerto Rico

So $500 mil for those three. How much will that cost for nation wide?

Nortel and Cingular also today say they have completed a trial of radio spectrum innovations that can increase voice traffic capacity by 120 percent

Let's see what exactly that innovation is. If it is about using Antenna arrays for diversity, then Nortel should let Cingular know that unless you have 100% new handsets that are capable of supporting that receiver diversity then you are still getting stuck with your good ole capacity.

I will be more than interested to learn exactly what that innovation is.
