<Maybe when it's time to be the hegemon, these things just happen. Like bees swarming. The drive to go forth and multiply is one of the strongest.>

CB, I think Jay was just making valid comment about India rather than showing hostility. Criticism isn't hostility. It's just pointing out what's wrong.

But your point is valid - Master Races are thick on the ground! When people think they are on top, they can become completely insufferable. It's the old power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely stuff. Lord of the Rings and all that - people cannot resist the power and are unable to wield it effectively, but can't let it go. Mugabe is the latest case in point.

In SI, there were perfectly normal and normally decent people who became quite aggressive and insufferable when suddenly rich due to their amazing intelligence and general embodiment of supernatural manifestation on earth.

I didn't detect hostility in Jay's comments about India.

India was cobbled together by Great Britain, from conflicting and competing diverging interests - which is why they were able to take over. Hindus didn't mind being freed from Moslems by the civilized British who at least brought trade, bureaucracy, government with less head hacking, especially if it put them in the top spot! Which it did.

There are political dynasties. There are antiquated systems, but material and ideological. I don't know whether the laws are ineffective, but government control certainly is.

Moslem ideology is frightening stuff. It involves a lot of head hacking. Hills of infidel heads is their idea of a good day out. The stadium in Kabul apparently filled for the Taleban disciplinary proceedings, with lots of support.
