Joe, I do not apologize. I believe my original response to Zofsilence was asking him why he thought that Intel was trying to "hide" DDR while they were pursuing Rambus. I don't think there was anything to hide. I think Intel announced long before the i845 with DDR memory was launched that they wanted to do a DDR chipset, and I think they scrambled to get it out (with some rather nice execution, considering how far behind they were). DDR presents the better technology now, since RDRAM has fallen behind, but since I am not here to argue over the the benefits behind either of these technologies, I'll just agree that Intel is making the better decision by going with DDR. At the time, and for right now, though, they are still correct in saying that RDRAM provides the best performance for the Pentium 4. Since there are no dual channel DDR chipsets out there, you have to compare dual channel RDRAM to single channel DDR, anyway.
