Synopsys cuts 145 from staff By Michael Santarini EE Times (03/05/02 23:39 p.m. EST) siliconstrategies.com SAN MATEO, Calif. — Synopsys Inc. confirmed Tuesday (March 5) that it has laid off roughly 145 or four percent of its staff worldwide. "We laid off roughly 145 employees in accordance with last month's quarterly conference call," said Ron May, vice president of corporate marketing. "In that call we said we had to adjust expenses and headcount by $30 million to $35 million to match market conditions." This round of layoffs should allow the company to meet that goal, May added. The cuts were made across the board but that no product lines or product developments have been discontinued as a result of the cuts, May said. Synopsys currently employees 3,300 people worldwide.
