2:55pm 03/06/02 Domini Funds voting for HP merger (HWP, CPQ, DSEFX) By Craig Tolliver Domini Social Investments, advisor to the nation's largest socially responsible index fund, Domini Social Equity Fund (DSEFX) , will vote all of its shares in favor of the Hewlett Packard/Compaq merger. "We own both companies so we're supporting it at both ends. I kind of feel like Hewlett Packard needs something like a Compaq. It's a little bit in the doldrums. I thought it was kind of a brilliant idea to acquire Compaq," founder and managing principal Amy Domini told CBS.MarketWatch. Domini holds 564,800 shares of Hewlett Packard (HWP) and 494,988 shares of Compaq (CPQ) . As a social investor, Domini gives HP high marks for it's charitable giving and diversity programs and credits the firm for reducing its use of harmful chemicals. |
