There are some moral standards last century and this new one that we live by. When some fact goes against those moral standards people react against it.
People who believe on that know that some way of dealing with problems didn't work. A James Bond state such as Israel, is viewed under the perspective that it is applying policies that are not acceptable under the moral standards we accept.

If Pizzarro and Cortez did that kind of stuff in the New World we can't much criticize since they had moral standards of the Middle Ages.

But if their country of origin Spain would be smashing their way into Gibraltar -a British colony in the Mediterranean- it wouldn't be acceptable.

If people 10.000Km away from where that trouble is brewing, unconditionally accept the status quo, that thing isn't going to stop.
