Religion was simply the result of privitive man's search for a semblance of security in a terrifying world

Not really, it largley springs from man's recognition of invisible forces affecting their lives. Forces that were larger than themselves and beyond their control. That's why things like the sun, moon and rain took on deity qualities.

Again, greedy, evil people, who "claim" religion cause war. Religion does not.
