Z, any increase in moderation of this thread would result in screams of bias unless the "rules of the thread" were made less clear. So I propose adding 3 specific rules to the thread:
1. Anyone who posts more than 40 messages in a 24 hour period will be banned for 3 days.
2. Anyone who posts more than 20 messages in a 24 hour period which do not pertain to AMD, Intel or the semi industry will be banned for one week. (Examples: comments about other posters, what graphics board to buy, politics, religion, etc.)
3. Anyone who posts more than 3 messages in a 24 hour period using a derogatory name (e.g., "Itanic", "xxxx is a piece of Sh.t", "so and so is a stooge", "Mani banni") will be banned a week.
I like (1) because the thread has gotten too long and I don't have time to wade through long flame wars.
(2) and (3) will also retard flame wars, and remove unnecessary posts from the thread. The goal of the rules is to train the posters so that we all enjoy reading and profit from reading the thread, not to remove any particular people.
Enforcement: PM Mani with the charge. If he verifies it, he will enforce and announce it to the thread. No voting, etc. EDIT - If a majority of the posts (rules 1,2) in question were a direct response to other off-topic posts, Mani may elect "no timeout."
Personal attacks and more serious violations will still follow the normal practice of complaint to Mani, announcement of a vote by participants and the results of the vote.
I'd suggest we need a 60% vote to change the thread rules, what do y'all think?
