I was not saying otherwise. I was responding to your false analogy.

The moderated threads do exercise censorship. Not the same thing as editorial discretion at the NYT letters page.

The NYT allows anybody to write to them. They do not say to anybody "we will not open or read your letters." They read and evaluate each individual letter, then exercise editorial discretion over which ones they will print publicly.

That's a very different thing from saying to a person "you are totally excluded from expressing any opinion of any kind to or in this forum."

I'm not denying the right to do that here on SI. All I am doing is calling it by its proper name.

I find it interesting that people object so strongly to applying the correct name to what they are doing.
