Bob,

I am laughing with you, of course….

Let me first tell you that I will PM you about the Jewish/Christian issue. It is off topic, and I will try to stay on thread on topic.

You said, “So in keeping with this thread's topic what do you think mohammed's biggest mistake was? His acknowledging Christ made the whole thing illegitimate.”

I am not sure what you mean with the acknowledgement of Christ comment. Can you elaborate?

In my opinion Muhammad made many mistakes, ranging from his violent episodes, the Satanic verses he spoke, some outrageous teachings, breaking of the Quran (the Muslim so called word of God) and then putting an exception clause in it for him alone in regard to the number of wives you can marry, the marrying of a 6 year old girl (which some call pedophilia), his moral example, etc….

But worst of all, in 610 A.D, at the age of 40, he had his first “so called” prophetic call, through the angel Gabriel, from God. This and his future revelations are the source of his teachings, and the Quran. The interpretation of this event was Muhammad’s biggest mistake in my opinion.

You see, what happened was, while sleeping, Muhammad was supposedly choked by an angel (in a dream). He was choked by a cloth until he believed he would die. Then he was released and told to recite verses. He hesitated and received the harsh treatment again (twice). So he then read the verses. When he arose, Muhammad thought these verses were given to him by evil spirits. But he went to his wife (Khadija) who consulted her cousin (Waraqah), told the story, they convinced him that these revelations were from God, not from evil spirits. Waraqah additionally told Muhammad that his source of revelation was the same as Moses, and Muhammad would become a prophet to his people.

If Muhammad would have went his initial thoughts, that these revelations were from evil spirits (that seemed logical due to his very harsh treatment during the revelation), and not been influenced by his wife and her cousin, we would have had a whole different ball game. But this single mistake, cost big, and is his worst, IMHO.

God Bless,
IGIT
