I know what you're trying to say but from the perspective of "fair" valuation that would ultimately actually add to the company value. While "real" earnings would not change because of the reporting system some risk premium that is associated with lack of information would be reduced.The companies that might suffer are those who grant more than expected.

The reason is that the cost of options is not easy to calculate and account for.

I am no expert in accounting but I would think that any and all one-time losses as well as changes in depreciation schedules should be very well described and is public info.
So it is hard to include hidden expenses in 1 time losses.
Again, I am no expert on accounting and could be wrong.
