Rambi, on heterosexual and homosexual pedophile statistics....

Thanks for posting that report. This topic is rapidly aging, but here is another take on the statistics:

Gay advocates correctly state that most child molesters are heterosexual males.
But this is a misleading statement. In proportion to their numbers (about 1
out of 36 men), homosexual males are more likely to engage in sex with minors:
in fact, they appear to be three times more likely than straight men to engage in
adult-child sexual relations (8). And this does not take into account the cases of
homosexual child abuse which are unreported. NARTH's Executive Director Dr.
Joseph Nicolosi, for example, says that about one-third of his 400 adult
homosexual clients said they had experienced some form of homosexual abuse
before the age of consent, but only two of those cases had been reported.

While no more than 2% of male adults are homosexual, some studies indicate
that approximately 35% of pedophiles are homosexual (9). Further, since
homosexual pedophiles victimize far more children than do heterosexual
pedophiles (10), it is estimated that approximately 80% of pedophilic victims are
boys who have been molested by adult males (11).

Probably because stixs can be made (interpreted) to cut all ways, most of us form our beliefs on other bases, most especially our own life experiences.

When I was a young teen, I was hit on by adult male homosexuals quite a number of times. It was a common experience among my friends, also, and we would banter and joke about it, in the "dirty old man" vein. Once, in a park, a spiffily dressed gentleman came on to me with the line, "You can be passive, you don't have to anything, it's something you should try, you'll really enjoy it." He was very polite, and not aggressive. When I was in the service, and still a teen, it would happen every so often, and by then I just accepted it as a part of life, annoying and repulsive to me, but no big deal. Other straight guys could get angry if not violent about it. I believe that if you asked any adult male about this, they would tell you much the same thing.

I do have to admit, ahem, that I was a pretty good-looking lad. Maybe that had a little to do with it. I'm sure that pretty young females (including yourself, I'm certain) got more than used to being hit on by lechers from time to time. I never had the good fortune to be hit upon by a "Mrs. Robinson" (The Graduate) type; if I had, it might have changed my whole outlook <gg>.

It would be nice if all our beliefs and attitudes were the product of scholarly scientific studies and statistical reports. But I'm afraid most of us develop them on the basis of what we have seen with our own eyes.
