True. But DNA was only a confirmation of perjury in the Paula Jones testimony.

There are certainly other ways to verify perjury... such as by a preponderance of testimony from other witnesses.

And the rush by the Republican Governor of Texas, and major George W. campaign contributor Service Corp to settle the whistle blower lawsuit (paying out about a half million on the condition that further litigation be dropped) had one clear benefit to the GOP: it kept the charges of influence peddling and Bush's contradicted testimony from being examined before a court and in the eyes of the public.

When government regulators are fired for doing their job of protecting the public from fraud (but running afoul of the Governor's 'good buddy' campaign contributors) it just SMELLS bad. And if the ex-Governor were to be adjudged committing perjury in the matter, it would be worse.

I'll say one thing for Dubbya: his political instincts are good. When the risks get higher than the potential benefits, he folds his hand like any good poker player (as seen in the campaign finance contratemps, this, and several other examples). He can pirouette with the best of 'em!
