Ad,
Just saw Joe Osha(think that was the name) on cnbc talking about intel. He wasnt worried about multiple. He was talking about $1.50 for next year so at 45 it will be 30X forward earning, not a big deal in his estimation with a better year ahead of that in 2004. I am paraphrasing as i was multi-tasking at the time. Guess this logic explains the current high multiples with two better years 2003 and 2004 coming up. Folks who are expecting blood in the streets just need to accept that when this was likely last year the markets propped up chips because it was aware of how good a place chips are when there is a bounceback. And each 3 month period with continued earnings disappointments only brought these stocks back to lower end of established trading ranges--eg amat mid-hi 30's. So waiting for the 20's and beyond now is probably for the foolish. mike
