So do you think Condit should have been re-nominated? If the Dem Party didin't take the hit now, they would in the General Election. The Republicans would LOVE that. They'd be knifing each other in the parking lot for the opportunity to run against. And you know something? Gary really did fail a serious character test. In a very serious matter- -a woman was suddenly missing- -he lied to the police. And hampered and delayed the investigation. In circumstances where time can be very critical. So even if he did nothing else, he may still have effectively killed her. By lying to the police. That wasn't just a minor little white lie. That was life and death. And congresscritter or not, he does not get a pass on this. His constituents did the right and honorable thing. Nixon? I went over the hill on him before the '72 election. It was clear enough that he had committed some serious offenses. Bill Clinton? Well, nobody died at Monicagate, true. You want to charge me with partisanship? OK. If he showed up at my house, I'd tell him to get off the property. Wouldn't want to have to disinfect everything afterwards. The bleach would be expensive.
