The added cost of making a world phone once they have ZIf technology is fairly small. the cost is some more real estate on the MSM chip and probably about $5 in extra ROM/Flash memory. Having one phone which jsut works in all technologies would be very powerful, even in the US, where you could raom onto any place which has service if the billing were worked out.

I know here in Rancho Santa Fe, if you have Verizon your golden, but if you have Sprint or AT&T, your just out of luck. When you here, it would be nice to have your phone just work wihtout having to have the right carrier for coverage. So if we had to pay an extra $20 to subsidize this feature, it would be worth it.

also, if they did it right, you could take advantage of the ide athat Mquarice has, which is to be able to set an algorithm in your phone which took advantage of the lowest priced minutes anywhere you go. Carriers might just be bale to sell more bulk minutes that way to alot bigger customer base.
