about the polls, my second major in college was mathematical statistics... and ask any statistician, there is no way on earth that you can take a sample that accurately represents the whole... NO WAY ...!
let's see, for any sample to be worth looking at,
1) it has to cover all geographical areas... how many Islamic countries are there and how many were polled ? and do you care ? obviously the 9,924 did not cover that…!
2) it has to cover different socio-economic layers of society... the poor, the middle class and the well off in each country… again, obviously the 9,924 did not cover that …!
3) it has to be gender neutral or has to indicate a gender bias… was it ? what am I thinking… this is a GALLUP POLL that I should not even question… RIGHT ? RIGHT…!
and there are other factors, like age group, education level, etc... but of course a Gallup Poll must have taken all that into consideration… what am I thinking ? this a Gallup Poll…!
so, I do not take polls seriously at all... as a matter of fact, I think that polls done at election time tend to sway the elections one way or the other more than represent what the outcome of the elections would have been without the polls... it is ok if you don’t agree... but please don't tell me that polls are done with great accuracy and small +/- deviation... PLEASE...!
now for Muslim actions … what kind of Muslim actions and to achieve what…? What are Islamic countries or Muslims around the world supposed to do…? Keep apologizing to the United States for the acts of whom they said did not represent Islam to begin with ? and even so, for how long…? This is what I refer to by the guilt trip… it is baseless in my opinion… the ONLY thing Muslims should do is to discuss Islam with everyone… then people would see for themselves that such acts does not represent Islam… OH, you and others do not like that… you want Muslims to feel ashamed of what happened by this guilt trip… which leads me to think that you don’t really have any interest whatsoever to find out what Islam is…
IGIT, at least we agree that the media representation can be biased… and for your comment that you have seen some Muslims condemning the 9/11 acts “but not many” … that is what the media chose to represent… but does not necessarily reflect reality… does it ? or does this fall under the Gallup Poll representation of reality too…!
IGIT, all you have shown is that you refuse to accept what I found in the reasons of the verses book that documents why and when each verse was revealed… you have not shown what you CLAIM you have… I go with the Holy Quran and what I find in the authentic books that explain it … such as the reasons of the verses… you, on the other hand, are refusing to accept that… and you claim that the book is undocumented and my sources are not referenced… would you like me to send you the book so that you have someone you trust who can read Arabic read it and translate to you ?
So, when you CLAIM that the Holy Quran supports the terrorist acts based on YOUR own interpretations of the translated Quran without going to the reasons of the verses (which you are refusing to accept), is again shallow at best and can be considered malicious… DON’T you agree ? and to keep repeating this lame claim that you have shown otherwise does not really serve any purpose and in all honesty, may earn you to be banned from this thread in the future…
IGIT, if you have any confusions on what this thread is supposed to be for, then please read the original post again… I hardly have time to read what I should be reading mind you circumlocutory arguments…!
If you find a verse in the Holy Quran that speaks of killing of the non-Muslims and want to find out the reasons of that verse, then please by all means, point that out to me and I will look it up and post what I find … but please, you either accept what I find, or let it go… at least on this thread… to add your own interpretations based on the translated Quran on the internet is again shallow at best…
I don’t know what the definition of a holy war is IGIT… but, Pakistan was most supportive of the war efforts… even Iran offered help in retrieving any downed pilots… I mention these two countries because of their borders with Afghanistan and because they are large Islamic countries… and by same token, it’s really hard as well to distinguish a fanatical Jew/Christian from a moderate or conservative one standing next to each other… so, why should Muslims be any different…?
And by the way, Ariel Sharon was directly responsible for the massacre of about 40,000 Palestinians in Sabra and Shatilla in Lebanon… what have the Jews of Israel and around the world done to clean up his mess since …?
As for the people I have banned from this thread…not many really, and they are basically the people who only have energy to attack Islam, Muslims or me personally… if someone wants to bark, they can do so somewhere else… but not on this thread… and I have to go back and see what was the particular reason that I banned you at the time…
IGIT, whether you study the Holy Quran or not is really up to you… I try to study it as much as I can when I can with what I have… so, your claim that you are willing to do so more than myself is baseless… each of us has to work within his constraints… may be you have more time on your hand than myself… that does not imply that you are more willing to study Quran than me… and I really don’t know why you threw such an accusation on me… when I admit that I have not read a lot of the Quran or its explanations I am admitting a fact I am not too proud of… but by no means represents my desires…
And my incomplete study of Islam or the Quran always addressed the point at question… again, point me to the verses of the Quran in question and I will see what I can find for their reasons of revelation…
Again, you throw an accusation that I am not interested in studying what I defend… first, I really don’t like the term defend because it puts people at warring ends…I prefer explain… which I’ve tried to do by finding the reasons of the verses…
IGIT, when you study Islam as you so claim you are willing to do, please try to find authentic sources for your material… reading misrepresentations and out of context translations does not constitute studying… NOT AT ALL
when I created the thread, I stated that it is to provide sources of information about Islam… nowhere did I say that I will study whatever the reader wants me to… and nowhere did I say that I will entertain circuitous arguments… I thought the purpose of thread was clear enough… but may be I need to revisit that
And finally IGIT, THANK you for your last gratuitous remarks…another sure way to get you banned from here… however, whether I ban you or not will have to wait for your next post… HOW is that ?
