Hi Bill, I'm not the originator of whatever thread you're referring to and my drive hasn't broken. I was commenting on problems some others have mentioned. I got a drive with a fan because it seemed like a good idea. This doesn't necessarily account for every type of problem one might have, but anyway, I don't have any problems with it (yet :-) ). Nor do I know of rumors. Just what others have posted here. There was a bad lot from the factory but I think that's an old story, and I think not a significant one. I would be interested to know the difference in profit margin between an Iomega drive and a re-packaged one, but I'm not sure how to find or estimate those figures. Do you have any knowledge about this?
