That would only be the case if the vote was very close. I think that index funds would have to vote for the merger.

Here's why....there has been a lot of speculation about how far HWP stock price would fall if they voted the merger down.The price would fall because a whole new management team would have to be created and that would cause more uncertainty.

If HWP share price fell it would put downward pressure on the index funds. The index funds have already had a bad two years and don't need any help from a falling HWP share price. So the obvious would be to vote for the merger, hope that the street likes it and have the share price of HWP rise.
