Seems to me the "point" of my message has been lost on some people.
My point was that we do NOT have to be friends with people (we can even dislike them) and still have compassion for them when they are treated in a way that seems unduly harsh. If you thought CH was my friend, it would be natural for me to assist him (even if whatever happened to him was his fault, because friendship often overlooks fault). It is much harder (IMO) to assist people outside your "friendship circle" in any meaningful way. As you can see, it is impossible for Bill to even post about me without finding a blast from the past to mock me with. I accept that ugly behavior as simply beyond his control, but it is still very repellent to me. As is the lying about it. And it "appears" he does not care. He might, of course, feel just terrible about it secretly, but I have no evidence of that.
