JG,

As a former Lucent employee I know that they would not have sold the business to a company that couldn't perform. The risk factor of shortages on a relatively small porportion of product cost would be heavily considered in deciding to sell that portion of the business to ARX. Additionally, there are few better supply agreements than with a company like LU.

I certainly respect your opinion, as I do the folks at Lucent making such a deal. What is the basis of your opinion? I am sure several notable events have fostered it. Where are these weaknesses? New product development? Sales? Inventory control? Human Ralations? Cost containment? etc... Have you ever worked there or had business relations with them? Please share the basis of your opinion.

The fundementals seem sound. There is some debt as there would be with any (most any) company buying other businesses.

My Lucent factory was sold, and I worked on the selling team and am now employed by the buyers. I have also participated on the selling team of another Lucent factory. Of course I cannot attest to the practices of all LU employees, but my own experiences lead me to believe that LU wouldn't sell to someone that they didn't have "performance faith" in.

Looking forward to your response.

Respectfully,

John
