I do not find anything remarkable in supposing that God has plans that He we do not completely understand, and therefore that we are not privy to His motives.

What motive could any deity with the power to heal and help all who appeal to him have, for ignoring so high a proportion of the millions beseeching him?
And is this a deity worthy of worship?

And why am I asking rational questions about an irrational subject...?

As Steve says, don't fall into the trap of thinking things are ordered or designed because you would wish them to be. Your wishes can certainly alter your perceptions, and hence your conclusions - but they can't change what IS.
