You posted links to a bunch of EOL machines that run at less than 1GHZ!

eMachines has trouble selling stuff that slow for $599.

There may be a lot of old leftover junk listed for sale on the web, but unless and until Intel can start replacing its 1.6GHZ on up Xeons with large cache parts, they aren't going to be selling many expensive chips.

What would you buy in today's tight budget business environment? A dual 1.8GHZ machine or a quad 900MHZ that costs twice as much?

Be honest with us, what would you personally suggest as the best solution?

Are you familiar with the issues of scaling additional processors on a shared memory bus?

And if you think mhz doesn't matter in high end machines, you should load up on SUN stock.
