Life expectancy increases could just as easily be explained by better education of the masses, nutritional improvements (though that is debatable), etc. Length of life as the sole indicator is relatively meaningless. Ask people how they feel about the care they receive, and more importantly, how much effort and time they need to expend to get the care they need. An entirely different picture emerges....
