He also knows that the Romans put down the insurrection in the Roman province of JUDEA. Pontius Pilate was governor of the Roman province of JUDEA which included JERUSALEM. The politics of the governorship, and the Herodian kingdom preceding, included dealings with the High Priesthood of the TEMPLE in Jerusalem. Gratus, who succeeded Pilate to the governorship, replaced the High Priest four times in his eleven year tenure.

After the Insurrection, the Romans destroyed the Temple and salted the earth of the Mount, and enslaved the Jews of Jerusalem and scattered them throughout the Empire. The Titus Arch was built to commemorate the event.
