Telstra mobile phone customers applaud digital CDMA network
handytel.com

The findings coincide with the launch of a range of special offers for Telstra digital CDMA customers to encourage greater take-up of the service that provides more coverage than any cellular network in Australia.

Telstra Mobile CDMA director, Tim Buckley, said a survey of the experiences of more than 1200 customers from metropolitan and rural and regional areas, showed customers were overwhelmingly happy with the digital CDMA network.
"Our customers have found the CDMA technology has a range of benefits including expanded coverage and reduction in background noise," Mr Buckley said.

The study s key findings included:
79 per cent said the network exceeded or met standards of excellence.
83 per cent of people surveyed living in rural and regional Australia rated digital CDMA as excellent, very good or good.
81 per cent of people living in metropolitan areas rated digital CDMA as excellent, very good or good.
81 per cent said outside building coverage was excellent, very good or good.
89 per cent said getting a line was excellent, very good or good.
83 per cent said sound quality was excellent, very good or good.
79 per cent had no problems with calls dropping out and
90 per cent had good sound quality during calls.

Mr Buckley said more people were likely to enjoy the benefits of CDMA as a new package of special offers made the technology more attractive. "With digital CDMA expanding we are releasing a range of special offers to encourage more people to take advantage of the cellular network that provides the most coverage in Australia," Mr Buckley said.

The special offers are available include:
50 per cent reduction in call rates* for the first three months after a consumer or business signs up to the new program for 12 months. This special offer is available until 12 May and customers will still be required to meet minimum monthly spend commitment.
Monthly bonuses of up to $480 a year for consumers and up to $960 for businesses who make a 12 month commitment to Telstra. After 12 May annual bonuses will revert to up to $240 a year for consumers and up to $480 for business. Customers will be able to use the bonus to put towards the cost of a handset. This special offer will significantly reduce the upfront price of a handset and is available until 12 May.
Reductions of up to $169 in some CDMA handset prices through Telstra Shops and Dealers throughout Australia.

Mr Buckley said the special offer was in addition to benefits already available through the more4you program, including reduced call rates for those who group their services on a single account, automatic reduced call rates and reduction in peak call rates for low spend customers.
"People now have even more reason to join the network with Australia s largest cellular coverage footprint and benefit from our money saving pricing package," he said.
