I am pretty well convinced that the CEOs and CFOs are going to play WWF Smackdown with the gov't attempts to boost this market. At the same time as the gov't is saying everything is peachy, we have a groundswell of demands for more transparent accounting practices. I really don't think that more forthright earnings reports are going to bolster the bull cause. Maybe that is why we are getting the bullish push from the gov't, maybe they are trying to offset the upcoming bad news.

Of course, I could be wrong about earnings season too.
