The problem I have is that you are looking at volume, and I am looking at volume accumulation.

A volume spike is not good when it is a distribution spike. The VA shows that the big boys did some profit taking on the last spike up and that is a bad sign.

Perhaps our perspective is a function of trading objectives. I am trying to identify important stocks in the biotech sector, learn to trade them well, and after the market settles down accumulate solid portfolio in this area by trading, taking profits and leaving a portion in for long term thereby minimizing risk. This is what I am calling "breadcrumb" investing.

For this reason elephant tracking is very important. I want to be where the elephants are when the sector breaks out.

I can see that someone with a different objective might have different criteria for choosing stocks, so what is your personal objective and what criteria do you use?
