Pierre - re: wintel needs
The coming release of MacOS 8 won't have have you running your Win apps straight out of the box. You'll need Connnectix 'Virtual PC' to go along with it (but it's cheap, $149-99)
You will be able to (and always could for some time now) mount PC volumes on the desktop.
You'll find MacOS incredibly easy to use, flexible, and intuitive. I was a dyed-in-the-wool Wintel sys admin that got unexpectedly forced into a Mac position. I've never looked back.
In two years experience of Mac use, I get much more work done than I ever did with 5 years Wintel use under my belt. Rather than having to screw around with having to figure out the nuts and bolts of how it all works, you can simply go straight to getting work done.
My Wintel experience made me very adept at configuring IRQs, setting DMAs, and allocating 'dead' memory (such as monochrome addresses) to current apps. I was very good - but with the Mac, I realized I wasted a bunch of time learning all that stuff. I could have been working instead.
The Mac bashers, I've noted since, are people that have never really used Macs - know little about them - yet, because it is such a 'trend', denigrate them without really using their head. Such is the assimilation power of the Microsoft juggernaut.
Some day, perhaps all people will make PC purchases based on individual thinking, rather than herd mentality.
