I realize that Cheney said they needed to do that to protect the privacy. It is partly true, as many people will see the industries recommendations as self serving. More importantly to the politicians is the likelihood of linkage of contributions to the resulting energy policy. No matter how beneficial the policy, some will see it as a payoff.
