Hey Tom,
Long time, no see... Hope all is well with you and your family...
We may get to see if the Wolfpack's win in the conference tournament was a fluke or not, because the Terps may end up playing them if both teams survive to the Great Eight. On paper anyway, Maryland has the easier path. NC State may not get past UConn.
I think that there were 5 legitimate #1 seeds this year which were Maryland, Duke, Kansas, Oklahoma and Cincinnati. Since there are only 4 available #1 seeds, like in musical chairs, someone is left out. I picked Maryland as the "weak" seed. I could very easily be wrong. In quickly looking over the pairings, Maryland won't face an opponent of their own caliber until the Final Eight, presuming they play up to their capabilities, and survive the early rounds. So the Terps really have only one enemy, and that is themselves. For what it's worth, now knowing the pairings and possible matchups, I think Maryland plays at least through the Great Eight, and has a excellent shot at the Final Four. Literally, they control their own destiny and barring injuries, have no excuses.
