I'm not sure of the extent to which you feel I should study up before posting, but I'll try to do better. I guess I was relying on being corrected, once, if I had gotten something wrong. I surely didn't know it was such a big deal to assume your many exchanges with CH represented a degree of mutual sympathy and SI-friendship sufficient to the subject at hand! I can hardly have imagined that so many posts would be devoted to that lapse of mine!

I don't think it is nasty at all of you to point out that I failed to read enough of your posts to and from CH to have perceived accurately your feelings about him. What's more I didn't even know it was a big deal, so I didn't know it was sensitive territory! I was just taking the word for it that you had a good grip on how to handle things and since you are friends with Poet and, well... you see the situation.

Silence on matters you do not understand is probably better than trying to manufacture facts.

If the "reality" you perceive and then assert here is that I have "tried to manufacture facts, and you posted the above under the impression it was not nasty or insulting, then you can't be faulted anything except for being the possessor of a mysterious blind spot.

That's just my opinion, though. Maybe others think "trying to manufacture facts" is a neutral thing to do.
