I don't believe our Govt. had anything to do w/ the actual planning of 9-11 - just allowed the terrorists to carry out their plan because they wanted an event that would provide the political cover needed to carry out their agenda. And it's worked so far... RR <End Copy> Here's my comment: I was watching CNBC on October 25, 1999. The day Payne Stewart died. He was being shadowed by two F-16s, according to reports that the network was providing. They were scrambled nearly as soon as the plane deviated off course and the controllers couldn't reach the pilot. I've been searching for records of the Air Force's coverage of the event. They are unavailable on the Web, AFAIK. But those fighter jets were scrambled almost immediately as soon as there was any indication of trouble. <http://www.usatoday.com/sports/golf/stewart/stewfs31.htm> Compare that level of response to what occurred on 9/11 and the speculation of the Yahoo poster begins to make a lot of sense. If you can find anything on the record regarding the response of the Civil Air Patrol and USAF on 10/25/99 vis a vis 9/11/01 I'd be most appreciative. I have no good resources to discover whether the military was told to stand down. But it sure looks like it to me. ********************************************************** So, Kodiak, Got any ideas how I go about getting FOIA look sees into the records of the appropriate authorities, be they Air National Guard or USAF for these two dates.
