Rambi, you got away very lightly in some respects. The student standard here is to return with as much washing as your conveyance can hold. Hence you could have had an entire term's washing in your car, some of it worn often.
(plus, think of the ironing).
There's probably a dressing gown at home somewhere. LOL, perhaps he intends to study the whole time.

As for student accomodation, my mother nearly went into hysterics on paying an unplanned visit once. I'm not sure she was reassured by me saying that I never went into the kitchen... she'd already discovered the mysteriously black and sticky floor in the front room (I never bothered with that room either).
Most self-respecting bacteria give up on students, either they're no challenge or they're immune. Don't worry, it's just Darwinism in action.
