Bombardier Introduces 800 2-TEC SDI Engine for 2003
Ski-Doo Snowmobiles

SHERBROOKE, QUEBEC--MARCH 11, 2002 - 14:25 EST

A two-stroke engine with lower hydrocarbon emissions and better
fuel economy

Bombardier launches the Rotax(R) 800 2-TEC(R) SDI engine for
Ski-Doo(R) snowmobiles and by doing so introduces semi-direct
injection two-stroke technology to the market. The 800 2-TEC SDI
engine offers as much as a 50% reduction in hydrocarbon emissions
and up to 25% better fuel economy than traditional carbureted
snowmobiles, while delivering performance equal to that of a
conventional two-stroke engine.

The new Rotax 800 2-TEC SDI engine follows the introduction last
Fall of Bombardier's new Rotax V1000 4-TEC(R) engine. Bombardier
thus offers cleaner technology in both two and four stroke
configurations. The emissions reduction and fuel economy benefits
of both engines are similar, accomplishing the same cleaner
emissions goals in different ways. Both engines are being offered
in a number of 2003 production Ski-Doo snowmobile models.

Bombardier considers a strong environmental commitment as a
priority. Furthermore, these new technologies must be affordable
for and acceptable to its customers since they make the final
decision on what will succeed and what will not. By offering a
choice of cleaner emission engines, Bombardier hopes to accelerate
consumer acceptance of new technologies for more
environmentally-friendly products.

Bombardier has a strong legacy of environmental commitment.
Bombardier also introduced 75% cleaner, quieter, direct injection
technology to watercraft, and the new four-stroke powered Sea-Doo
GTX* 4-TEC(TM) watercraft delivers efficiency in both fuel
consumption and air emission control. Bombardier's Digital
Performance Management(TM) electronic carburation system and
R.A.V.E.(TM) exhaust port modifiers have reduced emissions and
increased fuel economy on Ski-Doo snowmobiles for more than six
years.

A central computer in the Rotax 800 2-TEC SDI engine monitors
ambient temperature, altitude, engine temperature, throttle
position and RPM, then makes adjustments to optimize efficiency
and performance. A knock sensor works with the computer to prevent
problems by retarding ignition or enriching fuel/air mixture if it
senses the engine is running too hot. With no choke, an operator
can just press the electric start button and go. Easier to
operate, this engine is a no compromise alternative for
snowmobilers.

Bombardier Recreational Products designs, develops, builds,
distributes and markets Ski-Doo(R) and Lynx(R) snowmobiles,
snowgrooming equipment and multi-purpose tracked vehicles,
Bombardier(R) all-terrain vehicles, Sea-Doo(R) watercraft and
sport boats, Bombardier Fish Hawk(TM) fishing boats as well as the
Evinrude(R) and Johnson(R) outboard marine engines and the Ficht
Ram Injection(R) technology. Snowmobiles, ATVs, watercraft and
some sport boats are powered by Rotax(R) engines that are designed
and built by Bombardier-Rotax GmbH, which also builds motors for
motorcycles, scooters, karts and aircraft.

Bombardier Inc., a diversified manufacturing and service company,
is a world leading manufacturer of business jets, regional
aircraft, rail transportation equipment and motorized recreational
products. It is also a provider of financial services and asset
management. The Corporation employs 79,000 people in 24 countries
in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific and its revenues for the
fiscal year ended Jan. 31, 2001 totalled $16.1 billion Cdn.
