Shack, actually, just prior to the late 99 blow up into March 2000, the vix was also extremely low.

Not exactly Zeev. The VIX actually spiked to near 32 in Oct 1999 to get the fear necessary for the ramp into January (I am talking the OEX of course) and the return to VIX 21-22. We then had VIX spikes to 30 all through early 2000 to allow for the final March blow-off.

It certainly is just one tool as you suggested. It needs to be looked at with many other things as you also said. We need some refreshed fear to get this thing going higher into spring.
