Jay, when I was looking after methanol research as car fuel in my BP Oil days, I figured Trinidad would be a super-duper methanol supplier to California and the USA if necessary. I haven't thought about Trinidad for 13 years but Trinidad does seem to have a lot going for it now that I'm getting more detail from a local.

NZ gas fields are running down and by 2005 or 2007 there will be a reduction in production of large proportions. Importing LNG to New Plymouth might become a good idea. I guess Trinidad might be a supplier since they have to ship it all anyway and have no local use for it [other than as chemical feedstocks, a few barbeques and the like].

Anyway, I found your comments interesting.
