As the story clearly states (pay close attention now) Ashcroft didn't order the drapes. As I clearly pointed out, (almost done, hang in there) the author of the piece, Ms. Lumpkin, used an unnamed source who claims he did.

So the whole story hinges on Ms. Lumpkins' assertion that an anonymous person told her that despite his denial, Mr. Ashcroft order the drape.

But since it fits Big Media's template - Ashcroft the Crazy Christian - and makes a better story, what goes into herstory is that Ashcroft, not some ditzy woman ordered the statue's boobs draped.
